Meet Rev. Laura Rasmussen, founder of Ultreia Ministry
Laura Rasmussen is passionate about living life with God and helping other people do the same. She loves experiencing God through reflection, spiritual practices, being in relationship with other people, exploring local and global places, and embarking on adventures through Ultreia Ministry.
A native of Omaha (Nebraska), Laura went to college at Northwest Missouri State University where she earned a B.S. Secondary Education in Language Arts. After graduation, she lived and worked on the Turtle Mountain Chippewa Reservation in North Dakota as an AmeriCorp VISTA volunteer. During that time, she worked with the Girl Scouts and the America Reads project. From there, she moved to Jackson Hole, WY and worked at the Presbyterian Church of Jackson Hole as their interim Youth and Young Adult Director. Through that experience, she recognized God calling her to seminary. She attended Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA where she earned a Master of Divinity.
Following seminary, Laura served in ministry at Bel Air Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles as Director of Caring Ministries, as Associate Pastor at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, and as Transitional Pastor at several churches in Nebraska and Iowa where she’s led them through Always With Us, a 4-6 month spiritual formation project she created.
She is ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament with the Presbyterian Church (USA), is certified as a Spiritual Director with Christian Formation and Direction Ministries, and received spiritual formation training with Renovare Institute. Laura has led pilgrimages, retreats, conferences and mission teams in France, Spain, Portugal, UK, India, China, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, and Mexico in addition to the United States.
