BOM CAMINHO

THE PILGRIMAGE EXPERIENCE

“Bom Caminho” is an 18 day guided spiritual pilgrimage from Porto, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. This pilgrimage walks along the coasts and through the mountains of Northern Portugal and southwestern province of Galicia. You will visit medieval towns and churches, walk along sandy beaches and Roman roads, enjoy fresh caught seafood, and travel by boat across the Portuguese-Spanish border as well as up the Rio Ulla, where legend has it that the body of St. James returned to Spain floating up this river in a stone boat. Through one-on-one spiritual direction sessions before and after the Camino, daily spiritual reflection questions while walking the Camino, and reflective group conversations each afternoon, you will have the opportunity to reflect on how and why you have been called to the Camino at this time in your life and what does it mean for you personally to be a pilgrim. From Porto to Santiago, all accommodations, daily walking stages, baggage transfers, and boat transportation will be planned for you so you can focus on the spiritual and personal experience of this pilgrimage. Our guide Laura will be with you every day on the Camino. The walk is 153 miles, and you will walk an average of 12 miles a day with a full rest day in a Galician beach town. When you arrive in Santiago, Laura will help you retrieve your Compostela Certificate, attend a pilgrim’s mass at the Cathedral of Santiago, and enjoy a celebration dinner.

Ultreia Ministry provides a packing list, a suggested training schedule, three group zoom sessions for planning and preparation, and one-on-one support as requested.

MORE INFORMATION

I want to highly recommend Laura Rasmussen as a wonderful guide for anything she puts her effort towards! Laura planned and led a spiritual pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago for us in the fall of 2023. It was a wonderful experience and Laura thought of & took care of every detail of our trip! Her joyful spirit was refreshing as we walked along the path. Her spiritual insights added to the journey as well as her past experiences in leading the pilgrimage.

May you awaken to the mystery of being here and enter the quiet immensity of your own presence. May you have joy and peace in the temple of your senses.

Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
